Re: spooling of a multiplier

Exactly the same as a fixed spool realy just if it hasnt got a levelwind you will have to levelwind it yourself

Put your reel on a rod and tie the line to the spool
Get someone to hold the spool or if you cant then put the spool in a bowl/bucket of water and reel (water makes it go on better)
Make sure it goes on quite tight but not too tight

Re: spooling of a multiplier

to help keep an even tension i draw the line through a big book ( yeller pages is good).

also i always strip old line back to the last 50 ft or so then knot new line in

Re: spooling of a multiplier

if you fill the reel right up to the lip of spool, then gently cast 5 or 6 times (adding a little more power each time). after the practise casts the line should have bedded down nicely and leave it a couple of mm below the lip odf the spool.

Thumbs up Re: spooling of a multiplier

I get the Mrs to hold a screwdriver through the spool, then she provides the tension with her hands.

I do like the idea of Yellowpages, I knew it would come in handy for sumit.

Tip
When respooling a fixed spool reel let the line come off the end of the new line holding spool. This way you reduce the chance of line twist.
