Re: Scarboroughs DEAD

Red cod (red because of the kelp) tend to be solitary fish, ie if you catch one then cast to a different place. They grow to double figures but tend to be in the 3-6lb bracket. Peelers are a must preferably edible or velvet swimmers. You need to find heavy ground with heavy kelp concetrations. Calm evening tides tend to be best although fish can be taken during day. Dont expect to get big bags of cod.

Re: Scarboroughs DEAD

If you fishing for makerel try spinning form the west pier, if you want to fish the bottom try a three hook flapper with size 1's but cast at about 11 oclock from the end of the pier or you will hit some rough ground. If you want to try the rough stuff from the east pier then fish a simple paternoster with size 1/0 to 3/0 and rotten bottom. you dont need to cast far from either pier. The west pier can be fished at high and low water. If you want to try for flatties in the river then a three hook flapper carring size 4 or 2 hooks will do the trick. Rods and reels have a good selection of bait including frozen peeler, fresh lug and rag but remember its first come first served.
