Wrasse Fishing report Portland 29/12/05

My dad has been over from Spain for Christmas and was desperate to get out fishing and actually catch a fish before the year was out.
I had hoped to get out on a Bass trip on my mates boat. Unfortunatly he was still a bit too hung over to play.
With the sea having been so calm for such a long period I decided that our best chance was for a Wrasse from Porland Bill. One of my freinds had caught a 7lb 3oz Ballan Wrasse last week.

We headed down to the Bill armed with fresh Hermit crab. I cast out and started to help my Dad rig up. As I glanced round I noticed my rod bouncing in the rod rest. a Quick strike and surprise, surprise the fish had gone. We continued on for another hour with a few bites but nothing hooked up. Then my Dads rod just pulled down and stayed down. He managed to land a 3 1/2lb Ballan. Not a bad looking fish, but not really the size I was after. Still he was happy about it. Unfortunatly we only had time for a short session. I am hoping to get out again in the next 2 weeks.

if you dont mind me asking, where are the best spots to fish for wrasse on the bill? im rubbish with directions so intricate details with landmarks would help! (thats if you dont mind sharing of course!)
