advice on where to fish around Southampton

Got to take the wife shopping to Southampton this Saturday and have cut a deal to let me go fish for about 4 - 5 hours (unfortunately slap bang in the middle of the day , but you never know). Can anyone recommend a good spot that I can get to quite quickly from West Quay shopping centre, and what might be the best tactics / bait to use. Don't care watch I'm fishing for just want to get me rod out!

Cheers Tony

Question Re: advice on where to fish around Southampton

Still trying to get info on Southampton waters myself as I plan to have a trip down there. The feedback I have had so far seems to suggest Magazine lane or Weston shore. Theres a bit of a write-up on Weston shore in the Dec issue of Sea Angler. Let me know how you get on.

Re: advice on where to fish around Southampton

ending up fishing at Southampton town quay (big sign saying No Fishing, but the local security guys were fishing there at same time, and they said they don't mind people fishing there as long as they keep the rubbbish to a minimum.

Caught 1 small school bass (went back) half a dozen channel whiting and a pout all fish were quite small but I think i'll be going back cos it was an easy spot to fish. Parked the car 6 foot away from where i was fishing!
