| Sand eels : Spinning I keep hearing about deep spinning sand eels, what is the best rig to use for this and is it any good? |

| Hi Maz & Welcome to the forum, I,m not sure what is meant by deep spinning sandeels other than using more lead & letting it sink longer. I prefer using an artificial eel using about a 4oz lead, a swivel & a leader of 7 or 8 feet. The new storm sandeels are very lifelike & work well. I also favour Hot Orange or black redgills or eddystone eels. It,s fun fishing off rocks with this technique, as you can see the fish following & you never know what you will catch. I have had pollack, mackerel, bass, garfish, wrasse & even had a fairly large Tope follow my eel once, which was quite exciting especially as I was fishing off a 40ft cliff into crystal clear water. It,s my favourite form of summer fishing. ![]() |
