Re: fishing for small conger

Congers are clever fish, usually come out to feed when the tide is slack, try an hour either side of high and low tide. Also fishing the smaller tides can give better results.

Re: fishing for small conger

Well a few guys here do target them so just reading thier tips over time

Conger from the shore are -
Fish the night tides
Use pouting as bait ( small ones )

THese seem to be the top tips and I m sure more will be added

One thing I will say if your targeting them then make sure your tackle is up to it and you have the correct gear for handling / unhooking congers as it unfair to treat them bad which unfortunatly does happen as some people look down on a great fish

Man my spelling is getting worse

Re: fishing for small conger

Oh forgot to choose your venue as conger like rock / reef type marks so fishing on a clean sand bank will make things very hard

Good luck and look forward to reading the catch report

Re: fishing for small conger

Someone told me (Portland John, I think) that there was a report of a 61lb Conger taken from the shingle Beach at West Bexington.
I have to say I find that a bit hard to believe.
