New to Beach Casting

I have been given some fairly new beach / boat fishing rods multiplyers reels and various other bits and pieces and have no idea what to do once I get to the beach!

Can anyone recommend a book or some other way of me learning the basics for beach casting?

Cheers

Chad (New poster)

Re: New to Beach Casting

Hi ,welcome to the forum, take a look in a magazine like sea angler or total sea fishing, in amongst the tackle for sale ,there are usually some good videos on casting by the likes of John Holden or Neil Mackellow. They show the lot from basic off the ground cast to the full pendulum.

Re: New to Beach Casting

ta! hope it proves to be of benefit over the coming months....had one go at beach casting back in the summer which was a little poor (more like pathetic really) but I did enjoy the experiance and would like to give it a go properly.

I guess you can beach cast all year round?

Yeah, I find it improves round my way around winter time. Lots of suicidal whiting and pout that will jump on the hooks, lol.

There's no doubt you will learn loads from the forum

Re: New to Beach Casting

i take you know the basics. the best way is prob to watch a decent angler closely and get ideas.

you must use shockleader though, safety always has to be a priority. a rod reel and lead can be a leathel compination if used incorrectly.

happy fishing.

Re: New to Beach Casting

One thing with beachcasting is distance. on some beaches you will need to get out 100 yards plus, but i dont think distance is everything. i have seen far more fish come inside 80 yards, you just need to know the area you are fishing and where the banks are or ground is in that area.
