casting weight is important as well
it needs to be able to cast 5oz
how far do you think you can cast?

the rod you had today wasnt suitable for beach casting i am afraid, i would guess it could cast a max of 2oz, which aint enough really
the rod i was using was the tip from a beach caster

ive got a longer one .. a metal one too . i get a huge weight on mine and cast it miles .. its funny , but enoying because you have to reel it in 24 / 7 .. i use trace's a lot . today , i had 3 hooks coming out of it ,, i put 2 ragworms , and 1 peeler crab

what sort of rod have you got mate. usually if its 12- 13 foot long it's prob a beach caaster.

if your rod is shorter i take it you fish uptide, on a boat. however you can use an uptider on the beach.
