Help with live bait

Hi Alzpalz,

Just joined to post this in reply to your query about how to hook pouting. I have been fishing live pouting all year at a mark in Dover and have had my fair share of bass (had 3 on Saturday, best of 8lb). All I do is have as light as weight as possible (just to hold the bait near the bottom) with a 6 foot hook length with a 1/0 treble hook. The pouting is hooked just behind the head so the fish swims naturally. When you get a bite let it go until the rod pulls right round then strike and set the hook.
