Re: Help with live bait

When fishing live bait, try and keep to a steady winding pace untill you feel the fish take the bait fish.

It seems to work from a boat

Re: Help with live bait

Use a double hook system. Insert one hook towards the front of your bait and the other near the tail. This should decrease the number of misses. Make sure your trailer hook is secured to your main line.

Re: Help with live bait

i think you must be striking too soon or using too bigger bait for the size of bass. try using smaller pout and wait for the rod to bend and keep going.

on the boats round here everyone uses circle hooks for live baits, maybe try them on the beach. also use new hooks every session, bass have very hard mouths and a blunted hook will bounch out.

IMHO, if you hook em through both the top and bottom lips they won't be alive fer long coz they won't be able to get a good flow of water over thier gills .

Re: Help with live bait

Hi there,
I like to pin my livie just behind the head, not going to deep so it kills it.
I supose fish all eat there prey head first so the closer the head the better.
cheers, steve

Re: Help with live bait

If by live bait, we mean live fish, then I use minnows or sheiners (spelling). If we want to refer to any living critter, add in my favourite- Nightcrawlers; as well as maggots and blood worms.
