holiday report and species success

just got back from a lovely week in cornwall.
we had some great weather and saw some beautiful scenery,
what a lovely county it is !.

had three or four sessions of varying length with some excellent results

newlyn pier was the main venue and it became obvious early on that bottom fishing is not too productive during the day, everyone seemed to be float fishing or feathering,
on our first outing we had a busy day with garfish and mackerel coming to our floats every 5 minutes, all i got on the bottom was a couple of small wrasse,

had an evening on a local beach the next night (wife watching the soaps) ,tried spinning and plugging, managed to pick up a nice little red bream on a toby lure,

the next day was the best by far,i tried to fish for other species other than mackerel and gars, ended up with 12 pollack,17 miniature black bream , a scad and a coalfish, wonderful sport, nothing big,one pollack of about a pound but everything else was tiny,

the last day i tried mullet fishing, the species hunt was going to my head, all i managed to catch was about 15 black bream,i caught them on bread !?,

so thats about it ,had some new species to report and some points to claim.
one problem, when i got home and plugged the digital camera in only half the pictures had come out (i really need a better digital camera ).

one thing did happen that was a bit spooky,i was fishing on the pier and catching pollack and bream when i got chatting with a couple who were walking on the pier,he was obviously an angler and we talked the talk ( as you do) ,while we were chatting i caught what i presumed was just another pollack,he spotted it was a coalfish .
i had forgotten my digital camera and explained i had to take the fish home to take a photo for a species hunt i was in and surprise surprise he turned out to be a friend of our pingu,he photographed the fish for me and he will e-mail me the picture later, small world eh ?,
just goes to show how famous our pingu is. WHAT A STAR !.

great holiday ,back to normal next week
