Talking Peterhead Breakwater sea fishing

Peterhead Breakwater - Well finally got around to taking some off the pics of the old camera . So hears a little info and if anyone wishes to add the please do

Peterhead Breakwater is part of Peterhead habour and the main breakwater is that of the south arm as the North one can be closed if work is going on with a ship

Click for Map

Fishing at peterhead breakwater is very comfortable as you can drive your car on and park and fish . Disabled anglers will find this a top venue as there is also a 4 inch metal bar running the whole lenght of the breakwater . There are no toilets here apart from the big free one ever side of the breakwater

Fishing out to the sea side you will be fishing into 60ft plus water at high tide and you will need to cast 40 yrds ish to clear the rocks that are around the breakwater its self . THe ground is smooth with the odd snag so grip leads of 5 oz handle any tide and 15lb mainline

Fishing into the habour you will be fishing on to bed of sand that starts from about 20yrds from the breakwater . The inner side is very good for flatties during the summer fishing size 3 hooks with beads

You can catch lots of different fish from the Peterhead breakwater as the water is deep . Do not forget that just sending a line down the edge of the wall will catch fish although tackle loss will happen

Coalfish taken down the side of the wall

There is a good tackle shop in Peterhead now which sells all that you will need , but no fresh worms ect as its all frozen . Must say they were a very friendly shop

ONE CAUTION NOTE - if its windy the breakwater gets it no matter what direction so do not fish in high winds as there are no rails and if you go over the side you will not come out . Also I would not advise taking the little ones there as its a sheer drop and no way of getting out . Although this does not seem to bother the locals
