Harbour Float Fishing advice needed

Any advice on wether float fishing a Harbour area would be apreciated as im thinking of setting up a rod for float fishing while I spin Aberdeen harbour.

Got to to the habour office and just ask ? I know when I go up and fish Peterhead hobour there are areas tthat are no go but after a chat and a case of beer its amazing what little private docking areas you can get to fish.
