Weymouth report

Myself and the Devon/Dorset half wit (yes that is you Elliot) that is my fishing and species partner went off on an evening charter boat session tonight, to try and gain a few more points towards our tally.

I booked us a place on the only charter out of Weymouth that had a space tonight. Unfortunatly it was not one of Weymouths better boats (no names) as Weymouth has one of the best charter fleets in the country.

I was a little shocked to find that myself and Elliot were the only owners of a rod and reel on board. All the rest (100% holiday makers) used the boat gear.

We steamed out for about 45 minutes to fish the Spoil grounds
When we arrived I had already set up both our rods ready to drop straight in to the water. I was glad to see that the skipper had given all the rest of the party the same size weights that took them straight down.

I opted for 6oz smaller that allowed me to drop much further downtide than anyone else. After around 15 minutes I picked up the 1st Doggie. Them there was nothing for the next 45 mins. after that there was a slow trickle of doggies on board. The crew were pretty helpfull to the customers with not a lot to show for it.

As the evenig started to draw to a close the fish suddenly came on the feed. Elliot managed to get the only Bream of the session. I was delighted as this was our main target today..

This was then followed by a load of Pout.
I had no sooner said to Elliot that this was perfect Conger time, when one of the guys rod suddenly bent in two. It was definatly a Conger. He fought it on a typical charter boat rod. Two eyes missing and Cr*p terminal tackle. He mananged to get it within 10ft of the boat before it bit through the rig. I felt very sorry for him.

why do these cheap charter boats have such naff gear
our local tourist makkie boat uses stuff that you wouldnt pick up from a car boot for 50p and have a big sign that if you loose it it'll cost you £50
