Re: Best Fishing Line?

It will hold 20lbs if it's 20lb test, doesn't matter which brand you buy. The difference between brand comes down to the quality of line your getting, like my earlier comment about rougher lines... it will hold 20lbs, but it won't stand up as long rubbing against your pole as some lines will. A softer line won't create as much friction, where as a rougher (stiffer) line will. I've had line snap just from casting my bait into the water, and only after a month and a half worth of use (maybe fished 3 or 4 times). From that point on it just seemed worth paying a little extra for the line.. you go through a lot less lures. It turns out much cheaper in the long run.

Re: Best Fishing Line?

hi guys, Andrew has said it all I would just like to add we use braid for all our fishing on the boat, the only thing we change is the length of the leader, if were fishing over 200 ft we put on 24ft of leader under 200ft about 12 ft. this is to give a spring in the line to help the rod take the strain of a big fish diving as the leader will stretch and not pull the hook out,

Re: Best Fishing Line?

Thanks for the helpful information guy's, I went out to wal-mart and bought 20lb Spider Wire thats super braided. The reason i got it in the 20lb test line because all they have was normal fishing line and heavy duty fishing line for like 40lb and up. I was gonna go to the normal fishing tackle place here to get some fishing line but they're to expensive around here for that stuff

Re: Best Fishing Line?

Well this is turning into a busy post

I have fished spider ( actualy just got some from the states ) its good and fine but you have to be careful as it can snap

Cowboy good luck with then new braid and let us know what you catch - I would say take a camera but that might be the kiss of death

Looking at all the posts I think the overall idea is buy the best you can afford and remember its going to have to be a BIG fish to break 20lb line , so remember what fish size you are expecting to catch and do not go over board
