| Re: Samphire Hoe Hi JB - It does look like a good spot for the summer apart from the tackle loss situation and within reasonably easy reach of London too. I believe they charge a daily fee for fishing. Does anyone know how much that is? Apparently there is a kiosk there but I don't know if they sell bait. I'm told access by car is by tunnel through the cliff. Does anyone know what the charge for parking is? If you get down there before I do could you let us know? Here's a good picture of it which I found. ![]() |

| Re: Samphire Hoe Hi Lucky, That's right - straight down the M20, stay on the A20, down to the first Dover roundabout, then back on yourself for about half a mile, then off to the left, and through the tunnel. As for parking, it's about £1 a day if memory serves me right, and the fishing has some element of "membership", but I didn't think the charges were horrendous, I think it's about £4, but it varies dependent on time period, and time fo year. It's open from 07:00 'til dusk (whatever that means) LOL. I doubt if the kiosk sells bait, but tbh, when I went down there on Sunday, I didn't think to look! Doh! I'm hoping to get down there soon, so I'll be sure to post the detail here. Cheers, JB. |

| Re: Samphire Hoe hello lucky, fished the hoe on sat pm, it is an eater of leads so take plenty with you, or spark plugs etc, i work in the steel industry so took lots of 30mm dia nuts, peg 60 very good according to the bloke in kiosk, got blown off the front though as i went for a walk along front so if the weather forecast says south-westerly dont bother!!! tight lines |

I'm pretty sure there's toilets there, along with the kiosk. As for bait shops - there's 3 on Snargate street, which is effectively the main road (A20) as you start to come into Dover. They'll be on your left, and you need to take one of the slips off the dual carriageway then you can park right outside. There's a choice of Bills Bait and Tackle, Brazil's of Dover and Channel Angling (Dover), you can't miss them they're directly opposite De Bradlei Wharf, and the dock development. As for the snags etc, I'll be able to give you a better update after tomorrow, I hope, as I'm planning to be down there for 7am opening in the morning :). Light North-Easterly wind given, so that should be OK as the opposite of a South-Westerly!! Cheers, JB. |
