| Black Bream ? Morning all, I've set myself one or two projects for this summer's sea fishing... One of these is Black Bream from the shore. Does anyone know of what tackle/techniques/venues? I've read in this month's Sea Angler about how they can be caught from Sark, but tbh, I'm unlikely to get a trip there this year. LOL. I have also been told they are a possibility from Samphire Hoe, Folkestone end. I've also caught one or two in the past from Deal Pier, but only 1 or 2 in 20000000 trips, so not sure I'll be going for them there! I'm thinking a float, armed with a bit of squid or mackerel. Anyone got any ideas? Out of interest, I had a couple for tea last night (shop bought) and I happen to think they're one of the tastiest fish in our waters, being very similar to Bass IMO. Cheers, JB. |

| well, its is a long way but i go to battery point in brixham!!! not a trip you will make but you get LOADSSSSSSS in the summer, the tactics that do best is to either float with ragworm or set up a simple ball weight and trace and then bump a ragworm bait off the bottom by casting out and then retreiving really slowly. plus the fish are not very big at all (less than 1/2lb all the time) hope this helps, somehow......... __________________ -Nostalgia ain't what it used to be. -Hard work has a future payoff. | Re: Black Bream ? Cheers chaps - very useful advice... Brixham probably a bit far, but Pagham's a possibility!! Any idea what sort of size they're getting? What else does one get at Pagham? Is it somewhere that's worth making a trip to anyway? Cheers, JB. |

Other species at Pagham at the mo are Smuts and Bass. The smut fishing all along this part of the south coast has got off to a flyer ,if you can get peeler you will have smuts. As for the Bass i was in my local tackle shop and he told me of 2 double figure ones in the last two days. Plus your very close to other good marks as in selsey. __________________ Come on you HULL! |

| Re: Black Bream ? Nice one, thanks Gully. Now considering a trip down to Pagham, either Friday or Saturday night. Any tips on where to go, as I've not been there before, but it sounds like it's fishing great, be a shame not to give it a try, and the tide looks pretty good too, from what I've seen on the BBC. Anyone else out and about in this area Friday/Saturday? Cheers, JB. |
