Thinking about a trip to Brixham breakwater tonight?!

Anyone gonna be down there?

I fancy taking m first trip to brixham tonight - Never even visited the town let alone tried finding the breakwater and doing a spot of fishing. Think I might head on down there for a 7pm tackle-up, welly out a few lures to see if the mackerel are biting, and maybe take it from there.

If any seems a tarted up silver Skoda Fabia in the car-park, its ME. I'll be down there with a blue box, couple of rods, wearing a black fleece/blue jeans. This is my first attempt at fishing since my "rebirth" so would be cool if anyone can supply any hints or tips.

Thanks

(I'm Jason if anyone wants to say hello)

Oh well. I've just loaded up a new reel I have with 15lb main line, and am taking my shakespeare (which has sadly got a bit rusty in last few years) for some bottom fishing, should the opportunity arise.

Ideally I'd like a few mackerel, then chop the smallest up for bait, and maybe catch something half decent bottom fishing with mackerel flapper/strips bait.

Think I should enjoy tonight. I just looked on a map and noticed Berry Head is just down the road from the breakwater, another venue I aim to check out some time too.

Re: Thinking about a trip to Brixham breakwater tonight?!

Ok - look forward to it - If you see a dodgy geezer with a goatee and fishing with a BLACK tackle box (now...) and a couple of rods & rest, give me a shout and say, "Oi! You devonutopia!?" LOL

I'm just gonna try and catch something on tinsel traces first, then see what happens.

EDIT: If anyone wants to come along, I'm driving there from Dawlish - so if anyone en-route that drive wants picking up, drop me a PM. I'll probably go Dawlish, Teignmouth (check out the sea for potential boat fishing tomorrow) then to the A380, through Kingkerswell, and down the A road there to brixham. Can detour through TQ/Paington though.

Re: Thinking about a trip to Brixham breakwater tonight?!

As pingu has said, there was supposed to be a meet this evening at Berry Head, but I don't know if it's still on. I'm up for it if others are going, if not I'll probably just head down to Broadsands in Paignton, as it will be more sheltered with this wind direction. If you want to meet up devonutopia, let us know, although I don't want to fish the breakwater as parking is extortionate and the fishing is not as good as Berry Head (in my opinion).

Cheers, Darren

Re: Thinking about a trip to Brixham breakwater tonight?!

Chubb just posted on the Macky munching thread, and has suggested the Breakwater, so it looks like I'm outnumbered. I'll go wherever, if you are up for it.
