newlyn cornwall

going on holiday this summer to newlyn in cornwall, space will be limited in the car and i don't want to make the mistake of taking the wrong gear,
does anyone know what fishing there is around there, whats the best beaches and piers, what am i likely to catch,
are there any coarse fisheries
all contributions gratefully received

Re: newlyn cornwall

paul i have been there but dont know enough about the fishing there to offer much insight. i can warn you to beware of the kamikaze seagulls who will steal your cornish pasty right outta ur hands! - i also saw people fishing the harbour wall but again cant tell you what species etc...
hope you have a nice break though mate - beautiful area!

hi paul
the harbour wall is usually pretty good for mackeral most evenings in the summer;some mullet in the harbour i believe.
beaches in the area fish well for bass and ray, southwesterly best for bass perranuthnoe and praa sands beaches both good and easily accessable, porthcurno also pretty good if conditions are right.ie good bit of white water,if your only bringing 1 rod a light beachcaster is ideal 2-4oz
enjoy your stay and good luck mate
