right i can only say the way i was taught(buy a very experianced angler on brixham breakwater[thanks smoothy])
first pull off claws so cant nip you
then top shell
then legs and rest off hard underbody
cut in half and then use baiting needle through i leg hole and body to help put on hook then elastic too hold
no need to de lung unless freezing
can tip with legs if want

no need to take the lungs out of a fresh peeler. only do this if you intend to freeze them afterwards. why we do this i dont know, its just what ive also been taught

well I will see how all this goes... I have sand eels. mackerel and squid to play with...... so if none of it works..... I give up.

you take the lungs out when freezing coz they crystalise and then expand which means when the crab defrosts it has been obliterated to mush! lol

You take the lungs out so the crab cant breath in your fridge,defrosting all your misses food.
Ive always de-lunged,i think its a personel thing.
I m sure theres no need but ive always done it.
