Hi Dan,

Just a suggestion, have you thought of an uptide rod. In general they are rated either 2 - 8ozs or 4 - 10ozs

I have used one for several years now for light beachcasting and piers. It is a very useful boat rod when lure fishing. Most of them are ringed for multiplier use, and will take multipliers from 5000 - 7000's +. I can cast the width of our local football pitch (approx 60yds) with ease using mine (4 - 10)

They are one of the most versitile rods on the market.
