help! Casting instruction Hampshire ?

Hi,

I would like to learn to pendulum cast. Does anybody know of an instructor in the Hampshire/Gosport area or is anybody with experience interested in just showing me the basics?

I can 'OTG' but its not a good technique on steep shingle beaches so I am limited to just thumping it out at best 100 yards (wind behind me!) but as I nearly always always fish into the wind I am down to around 50-60 yards.

Cheers,
James

Re: help! Casting instruction Hampshire?

I think Adrian Farley at Hayling Island maybe your best bet,He can usualy be found in the lifeboat inn drinking sqaush. He is a very nice chap who will probably want to teach and fish at the same time. Here is the NFSA casting instructor list and his details are on it.

Re: help! Casting instruction Hampshire?

I contacted Adrian and had a great afternoon. We had a good chat about fishing and casting in the pub first! Then walked across to the beach. To cut a long story short I was taught within an hour the 'ariel ground cast' or the fishing pendulum. I'm now blasting out leads with ease well over the 100 yard mark.

It was a piece of cake to learn too. I've been put off learning for ages expecting it to be too tricky but it wasn't at all difficult. The book/mags are useless for learning to cast, you definately need a practical lesson or two with a somebody who can show you how.

Cheers,
James

Hi Ben,

It was only £15, worth every penny. I had to drive to Hayling Island but he told me he does come to you if you give him the petrol money.

James

Talking Re: help! Casting instruction Hampshire?

considering getting some lessons myself, i do most of my fishing straight into deep water so distance is'nt really a problem but it would be good to learn how to cast properly.
