Re: Telescopic Rod

Where you going Mick?
It may be better to buy one at your destination mate, as most places in the Med have extensive selections in Telescopic rods.
To the point of it being difficult to actually find non Telescopic rods.

Re: Telescopic Rod

Thanks for reply, i put the same query in another forum (sea fishing uk) and the guys who replied there think that the multi section travel rods are a better option than a telescopic, ive been looking round the tackle shops but nobody seems to stock them, i'm a bit sceptical about a six piece rod handling ok.

Re: Telescopic Rod

Hi Mick00,

The Shimano Exage rods are excellent rods, far better than a telescopic.

If you are travelling through France then the French supermarkets have a fantastic selection of CHEEP throwaway rubbish that would do you for a holiday.

Cheers

Re: Telescopic Rod

Like i said it really depends on where you are fishing mate,

If you are going anywhere in the Med then it is no use comparing gear used in the UK.

In the Med a 20gm - 45gm weight is all thats required in near on 90% of shore fishing situations.
Plus there are not many big fish to be caught near the shore so it's more important to get tackle that is light and has great bite detection.

In Greece where i live, i have yet to see one person fishing with a 2 or 3 piece rod, they are all Telescopic or they use a hand spool.

There are many good quality Telescopic rods availble around the Med area, a far better selection than you can find in the UK.

I have read in many Fishing Forums people criticising Telescopic rods, yet when you actually ask them they have never used or even seen a good quality example. I would not be put off by these people, a good quality telescopic is fantastic.

I have tried many different makes of Telescopic rods, the best i have found so far are a brand called Eurostar for fair weather, clean beaches, and Grauvell for all other uses.

I've Found
Http://www.tackleshop.co.uk/ProductD...2-f12edfbffed8

But it looks to be a bit big at 1.45m closed,
As i said i really think you'd be better buying at your destination.
