Channel is pretty dire at the present mate!
Severn Beach will give you 2 hours up to high and an hour back, use pennel pulleys and fish/squid baits and expect straps and maybe a thornie. There are still a few undersizes codling about.
Good idea to hook up with someone who knows the Channel marks as its a difficult place to fish without knowledge.

Re: Bristol channel + severn beach

Not much going on around there although Steve from Veals said there were the odd bass around. Met a bloke who had been casting way over 100yards and bought in a decent sized bass. That was between both bridges on the salt marshes. Aust has not produced for me lately and you have to watch where you are going on high tides. Best keep away from Aust, Old Passage by large tides. Severn beach I tried last wednesday but not a bite. Lug is the bait to take. The tanks you mention is not bad but you don,t have alot of fishing time specially by low tides.
Might want to try Layde Bay as it gives you many hours of fishing, its not so muddy, but will get very busy at weekends.
Hope that helps, mate and good luck. Maybe if you plan something we can go together.

Re: Bristol channel + severn beach

Not that I have a lot of experience of the channel but all of my success seems to come on the ebb. I'm planning to fish it later this week and will let you know how I get on.

Re: Bristol channel + severn beach

Weather was horrendous on Saturday, don,t normally bother me but on Ladye Bay it was not funny. Poor lads that cam down from the Malverns to fish. Hope you caught something guys. Personally I went home!
