weed

hey,
erm i have been fishing resently in a spot in langstone. well many spots and i know that im casting into weed. well i think i am because im pulling in weed and stones every cast. and im scared that my hooks are in the weed and i was wondering is it worth trying to find a weed free spot or is there ways of the hook not getting submerged in the weed. also when i cast out the lead will hit bottom and i will real in the slack. and im not using that heavy leads only like 3 oz so when i real in the slack i cant feel when its all tight so i feel like im pulling the rig and lead along the bottom and into the weed. is there ways of helping me stop this. thanks guys and gals much help

Re: weed

either use a breakaway 'griplead' as it sound like the tide is carrying your lead along..( heavier too if you can )
another way to combat this is to cast uptide of where you are standing and when the lead hits the bottom make sure you keep the bale arm over until it stops taking line .. your rig will swing round and sit on the bottom and then you can take in the slack.
weed is everywhere at the minute - harbours will be a nightmare so try the open beaches or fish when the tide is running - some places the weed is worse when the tide is coming in - other places worse when its going out .

Re: weed

Hello mate what part of langstone are you fishing havant/hayling or portsmouth side if its portsmouth side get right out to the point opposite the eastern road little walk but nothing hard, weed passes you out into the channel and you will only have to cast out 10 meters bites will come thick and fast at night day can be quiet. but caught a nice bass out there bright day and supper slack water like 2-3 foot!. Its bass, bass, bass , good luck mate.
