help on places to fish

hi all,
bit of help please, looking for somewhere to take my lad fishing on Friday (not a wedding person) I would like a pier or rocks somewhere close to the north midlands (yes i know we are as far away from the sea as you can get)

Any help/advise on a location and what to use as bait would be great
