Re: off the beaten track weymouth

Go back to Cogden or West Bexington. That is the only place on Chesil that is really fishing at the moment.
If you want some smaller fish then you could try Stone Pier. Chesil Chucker tells me there are some Pollock and small Wrasse coming of there.

Re: off the beaten track weymouth

Either float fish or be prepared to lose lots of gear.

This is the month that the big female Garfish can be caught there. Small slivers of Mackerel size 6 hook fished between 12 and 18 inches deep.

Or Ragworm for the Wrasse. You can get some good bait from the guys at Chesil Angling on Portland Road as you are heading out of Weymouth to Portland. It's on the left just after the garage and the Co-op.

moved across to the new shop mate ... great looking place they have now and are doing 'loyalty cards' too
They gave out loads of freebies too , which i happily accepted

If your looking for somewhere quiet i would avoid pulpit area as it will be full of tourists , as PP says great for wrasse but if you want peace go to the bird sanctuary at chesil, the bridging camp and walk till you drop or do the same at Bexi .. it's gonna be mobbed if the sun is out at all the usual spots and mackerel fever has hit the south coast already !

having now finished my coffee and woken up i now see that your fishing today and will have gone already so ignore the above ( apart form you Nick )
