 Fishing Portland Harbour Hello all, I'm after some advice about where and how to fish in Portland Harbour. I've tried fishing by Castle Cove Sailing Club and also behind Wellworthys but just seem to get plagued by weed and not alot else, but i've heard of decent bass being caught within the harbour! I was wondering what are the best shore marks in the harbour? what state of tide should i fish? and what rig and tactics should i be using? Sorry about all the questions, but hopefully a few locals will be willing to share some knowledge to a reletive newbie to sea fishing?? pretty please.. | Re: Fishing Portland Harbour Don't be stupid!! We locals never share our secrets lol. It's about time you invested in some of those lovely peeler crabs from Chesil Beach Angling on Portland Road and wait for the next big tide (next weekend). You could be a couple of weeks too early, but this year everything is early. Have a go on the incoming tide inside the Fleet on the sandbank. Get your waders on but be careful of the incoming tide. You could also try on the other side of Ferrybridge on the outgoing tide.
