Pevensey:Details

Well, with a week to go here's some info about the meet:

How to get to Pevensey Bay
From the west, the A27 will take you to a big roundabout that will be signposted for Eastbourne and Pevensey Bay.
Take the A259 and follow signs to Pevensey Bay. From the East, follow the A259 and drive straight into Pevensey Bay

Where we meet
At the car park at the end of the town. Following the A259 into Pevensey follow Sea Road until there is a sharp right turn.

At this point, go straight on to the car park. It has toilets and you have a very short walk to the beach.

Map/Aerial view:

The Beach
The beach is a shingle beach, not too steep, the tide moves relatively quickly, but no severe tidal runs here lads.

There are groynes along the whole stretch of the beach. The beach stretches for about a couple of miles, so plenty of places to set up.
A couple of cafes are within walking distance if you need some nosh.

What to catch?
Latest report are dabs, pin whiting and rockling. Being the eternal optimist, I hope for more and will fish for it. Big baits-a-gogo

Baits?
Black lug, blow, gutted or frozen reported working well. Squid and mackerel for tipping off or combos

Tackle?

Standard beachcasting gear. Nowt special. Weights at 5/6oz. Methinks a couple of 2/3hook flappers for scratchin' fellas?
I'm not revealing my tactics

Other info

Local tackle shop:

Anglers Den
6 North Rd
Pevensey Bay
Pevensey
BN24 6AY
01323 460441

High Tide: Midday (ish)

I'll be there at 8am allowing time for hellos and setting up. Paul and I will no doubt go for a full english if at a local cafe, maybe we could all go?
Otherwise a barbie has been suggested. Anyway after a stressful couple of weeks, I'm looking forward to it. Lets make it a good 'un guys!

Cheers
Rob

If there's only one pouting in the English Channel, I'm sure it'll find one of my hooks . I'll retain my rockling crown otherwise A few dabs will be nice though

Steve_640 is on a distinguished road
Re: Pevensey:Details

Well I popped over to Anglers Den Yesterday as promised, not much to add to the above apart from the fact that there have been one or two plaice caught recently. Apparently the fishing is very quiet at the moment and the expected cold snap over the next few days is not expected to help. As already stated, worms are the recommended bait and if there is a blow before the meet, then tipping these with shellfish. Bait is expected to be a problem, they had sold out of a number of things when I went in, although apparently they do keep a reasonable stock of frozen lug. If you want to order some fresh, they suggest you do so on Wednesday, or at latest Thursday.

Steve.

Re: Pevensey:Details

we've got wall to wall snow here, the forecast is much the same for the rest of the week, this must put the meet in doubt,
i for one will not attempt the 90 mile journey if it stays like this,

if it comes to it i suppose we could postpone it for a week or two.
