Talking Hurst Castle 30-01-05 the fishing report

Hurst Castle 30-01-05 the fishing report

9am and I was there, and with in minutes kiwi wellyfish and pingo also turned up

With a few hellos / smiles and a quick story of how ping great a small exclusion zone in a little chef on the way , we got our kit on our back and made the short walk to our mark

We were soon tackled up and baits were flying out

Baits on the day
Crab
Sand eel
Rag
Mackerel
Squid

Leads
5-6oz grips

Rigs - Every type
Pulley
Paternoster ect

We were soon joined by the rest of the guys and with hellos and a small amount of banter the rest of the guys were soon fishing to. A total of 11 anglers and 22 plus rods were now out!!

Fishing the up tide with high water about 12:45pm . There was a bit of pull and weed so short range fishing was in order ( 40 – 50 yrds )

Whilst we waited and waited for the bits ., we all took the opportunity to wonder around to have better chats with each other and put names to faces

A quick bacon bap made by the catering crew ( Wellyfish and Kiwi ) hit the spot . There is nothing better than an hot bacon bap on a beach

Tide came turned and went; I started to get more and more worried that nobody was catching (anyone who organises a meet knows what its like ) So decided to make everyone laugh by giving my rod some welly only to end up face down kissing the shingle

It was then time for a quick break so we all gathered for a glass of wine and excellent pies made by pingo . As usual nimue4 turned up as the wine was being poured ( what a pro )

By about 4pm there were still no fish or bits!!! And it was time for most of the guys to call it a day

Only one fish came in after dark which was a rockling

Well what can I say – sorry guys about the fish on the day as it was like something had gone along and sucked up all the fish? About 10 anglers who had fished the castle at the end, also had no fish so the whole beach basically blanked or a total of three came out on that day

I for one had a great time (what better way to spend a Sunday)

Shame about the lack of fish but I'm sure everyone enjoyed the social side of the meet. Hopefully all the fish have started their journey to Brixham ready for the 12th Feb.

Re: Hurst Castle 30-01-05 the fishing report

thanks richard for organising the day
had a great time even though i missed the forum admin face plant(probably in the devon catering section)
really dont think we could have tried anything else to temp / find the fish , bonsai and myself even tried the inner water on high tide to hunt flatties so just gained experiance in casting.
good to put names to faces again, and meet new ones.... also a big thanks to kev for driving(even if kiwi snored (loudly)on way back)
roll on the next one(can we go to plymouth aquarium though as definately fish there lol)

Re: Hurst Castle 30-01-05 the fishing report

Well, Dave (Pingu) and my day started off a little different to the others. See, Kev (Wellyfish) likes to have a curry over the weekend. Let’s just say that three hours in Kev’s car with that rancid backside of his, was about all we could take. He trumped all the way to Hurst and all he could do was laugh and do it all the more!!

What worries me guys is that we are having a curry the night before the Dartmouth boat meet next week….Be afraid, be very afraid!

Once at the venue, we were soon met by other forum members. It’s always great to put faces to the names. Ben, have the nerves settled mate?

Well onto the fishing………….Yeah right……..What fishing. Oh Richard was all apologetic and all but im afraid it cuts nothing with me. It took us about three hours to get to Hurst (no fish) Castle, and I tell ya what, it took us less time to decide never to go there again.

After several hours of no fish, we held a meeting to discuss how best to deal with the organiser!

The pictures below will serve as a warning for those who arrange fishing forum meets and think its ok for us to all blank…..Well except for them that is!!

I have also noticed that lately there is new way to stand and pose for forum pictures so here is a selection of the new stance. Enjoy!

Oh and one other thing…….Comments were made about my snoring on the way home. I can tell you that Kev’s butt continued to pump noxious gases into the car and that my snoring was a direct affect of the said gasses.

Thanks for a great day!!

You know we love ya Richard.

Kiwi.
