Braid on a multiplyer?

Hi All,

I was thinking of using some 20lb braid on a 5000 series mulitiplyer, mainly for lobbing into the surf. Anyone tried it? I was thinking a 30lb mono leader with 2-3oz flat leads on a running ledger. Or am I better sticking to mono and leader? Any advice would be great..

Steve

Re: Braid on a multiplyer?

Tried braid on a similar sized multi once and found it quite interesting..bite detection was bizzare..a fish farting on the way past would show up !
I guess its all down to your casting ability mate...20lb braid will be micro thin and could easily 'bed' itself on the reel causing problems ..as long as you use that shock on it ( especially to preserve
that first section from wear and tear ) i see no real reason why you can't fish braid

A lot easier on a fixed spool but give it a bash and let us know how you get on

Re: Braid on a multiplyer?

You might need a good thumb guard to stop any cuts from the braid, it can bite..
