Re: Interval Between Changing Bait

a tip with rag worm which i use is push the mouth just above the eye of the hook, this can be hard sometimes but if done right the worm will stay in place fine, impact shields are great, i am only just finidng out how great they are

"also you can use an impact shield, this will protect the worm bait from the supersonic launch"

The only time my casts ever get close to supersonic is when I have completely cocked things up and buried the weight at high speed into the surf about 20 feet in front of me.

I only have a few ready made rigs at the moment, none of which have bait stops or sequins, it looks like a trip to the tackle shop for a few rig making bits is on the cards.

Thanks Steve.

Re: Interval Between Changing Bait

I dont know if this has been mentioned b4 in the thread but just another small tip... when tieing off the hook leave about 8-10mm of line for the tag end, this, when up inside the worm will snag the internal skin and can help prevent the worm from slipping down. Not saying that its gonna stop it but its another added little extra.

Re: Interval Between Changing Bait

depends which knot you use, some knots leave the tag pointing up the line and some knots leave the tag pointing out sideways

Clearly as the worm gets washed out and simply becomes a piece of skin this is going to happen, but I get this with a fresh looking worm. In my investigations I found suggestions that the bait should be changed after every cast, or every 10 minutes. Again clearly the freshest juiciest bait is going to have better results, but this does seem to be a bit excessive, not to mention expensive. What interval do most people change their bait casts/time wise?
What is the likelihood that the bait has slipped during the cast?

Thanks Steve.
I always tip with a small piece of black lug, gives off bit of scent along with the blow, get four or five chucks out of one worm, .
