Hurst Castle 30-1-05 Update

Hi All

Well not that long before the Hurstcastle meet

Hustercastle is a long arm of shingle that dips into water of 30-40 foot . It is comfortable fishing and you can park your car on the road ( the yellow line) where it sharply bends . It is a single track so be careful cars can get through

Once parked up you will see a wooden bridge going over a stream

Go across this up the shingle bank and on top you will see a rocky out crop . We will be fishing to the left of it about 100yrds along

There is plenty of room on this mark so if your a bit late or can only make it later in the day you will still be able to fish

On the day
I will be getting there for 9 - 9.30 am and be fishing the whole day . High tide is about 12.40 - 30th looks good 1st high 12.40 1.84 mtrs (based on poole harbour n.f.s.a tide timetables) thanks Bret for info

Bait The usual Rag Lug Mackeral Squid sandeel

Lead is 3 - 6 oz depending on the tide run and grips are ideal

And the fish - well anything could show up on the day


Its going to be a great day out with a lot of us meeting up; old ones and new ones. If you are reading this and wondering should i go the answer is YES as it just a group of guys trying to catch some fish and have a bit of a laugh

I have not fished this mark for 6 months so any of you guys have any tips on fishing it then please post below

Wont be able to make it on the 30th men well gutted but it is me daughters birthday.
One bit of advice i have picked up lately from a couple of locals is that when it is high tide and yer leads dont hold chuck a big bait close in and i mean close, we are talking two rod lengths out as the bass and pollock patrol along here.

im looking forward to going to hurst castle, it seems to come up in all of the subjects i am doing at college in some way or another, usualy about the coastal management, i usualy switch off once its mentioned n start thinking about the meet
