| Re: braid ? Hi Lads, Can someone please tell me why braid is better than mono for beachcasting? What advantage does it have. When you have casted 100 or maybe 150 or even 200 yards out!!!!! what is the advantage of using braid? When uptiding, after casting approx. 25 - 30yds or thereabouts from the boat, and let out a further 25yds of braid until the weight holds, what is the advantage of using braid? Your comments would be gratefully appreciated Cheers |

| Re: braid ? reply to tasmanian jim, in my opinion i use braid because, at short range or longer you can see every tweek and nibble, braid cuts thru the tide easier so you can wind down to the lead without any wishy washy rod tip nodding, on the strike the breakaway leads collapse instantly so you are straight into the fish(or not!) and the rod does not end up flapping round your ear, although i must admit the first big bass i had on it was a bit brown trouser due to the lack of stretch, it casts easier than mono, has no memory and lasts longer than mono, agreed when uptideing you want the line to belly with the tide so use mono, straight over the side same as beach. hughes.s |
