Torquay

Hey all,

Sunday 2nd May I'm planning to get an all day fishing trip in with my girlfriend and me other fishing buddy. We're from Exmouth but fancy better waters. So we're gonna head to Torquay. I was there recently and discovered a secluded little spot behind the bird avairy thing, a tiny pier just down from devonshire hotel or something.

Since then I've heard of other places such as Hopes Nose where you can catch bigger fish.

We're planning two take two beach casters to leave going on a stand, a boat and line in case theres any bigguns and three pier rods for spinning with. No we aren't sure what to do, hopes nose? big fish?

Anyone got any advice on the best place around Torquay where we can get some good catches with those rods?

Thanks.

Re: Torquay

Hopes nose has a reputation for bigger fish purely because it goes straight into deep water. I've even seen blue and thresher sharks hunting mackeral right off the rocks in the past. It is a hike to get to it though.

The other place you mention is Beacon Quay. Never fished it myself so would be interested to see if it's productive there.

I would have thought an uptider would be better than a boat rod in either location though

Re: Torquay

I'm undecided but I think we may try hopes nose, as we're looking for decent size fish to cook. Boat rod is just because of lack of rods at the moment (As somebodys borrowed a couple for holiday) so girlfriend is going to use that one.

Anybody else ever fished hopes nose?

Re: Torquay

Hope you have a great day. Just remember, as you stand on the point looking out to sea, to the right rocks, to the left sand

Re: Torquay

Fishing i slow at the moment! The other place that you were going on about is natural arch. Most venues in Torbay seem to do better at night.

If you fish the point of the nose fish it long as its very snaggy there are some good wrasse to the right of the nose.

Brixham breakwater is a good mark at the other side of the bay plenty of fish there makikie are in low numbers, might be chance of a conger at the end of the pier.

hope this helps tj

Re: Torquay

thats brilliant, cheers from the both of you. Looks like we're gonna set up on the left on hopes nose from late morning onwards with a picnic and a few rods and see what happens, then we're talking about getting some dinner and then heading doing to this natural arch place and fishing in the evening.
Should be a great day!
