Travel Beach Casters

I'm looking at getting a travel beach caster and have narrowed things down to the daiwa wilderness beach and fox trek rods as detailed in the links below:

http://seatackle.co.uk/Default.aspx?...ProductID=6022
http://www.spottydogtackle.com/contents/en-uk/d120.html

In Summary:
Fox Trek Beach Rod - 11' 6"

The new Trek Series includes a variety of multi-piece compact models to cater for the travelling or mobile angler. Each rod comes in its own protective carry tube that fits easily into most travel bags.

It’s made from a lightweight carbon blank with Fox’s extra durable SLIK Guide System and quality reel seat.

• 11’6" Six sections
• 5-6oz Casting Weight
• EVA Grips
• Screw Locking Reel Seat

Supplied in a quality zip top carry tube, about 2 feet long, fits inside a suitcase with ease.

Daiwa Wilderness Travel Beach 12ft

You won't know these rods are four sections. Designed araound a four section configuration but performing like a two piece model both these rods truly are a break through in blank development. Crisp, powerful, well balanced and with a responsive tip action each rod will comfortably handle 4 th 8oz leads and be at home over rocky ground. Rung to accomodate eitehr fixed spool or multipliers each model passed 180yds in field tests.

Length 12 feet.

•High grade carbon blank
•Split Duplon grips
•Graphite reel seat with metal hoods
•Reinforced joint collars
•High Quality Alumminium Oxide Guides
•Supplied with quality travel tube.

The fox trek got great reviews a few years ago, though I gather this is a new release and may therefore be on a different blank altogether. Has anyone had any experience with the NEW fox treks? I know the Daiwa wilderness systems have great review, though If I can get a great rod that packs down to 2ft I'd rather get that as it will fit in the suitcase (I don't have a 3ft suitcase!).

Any input would be welcome.

Cheers
Matt

Re: Travel Beach Casters

over the last few years these type of rod have come on in leaps and bounds......decent quality and an action that doesnt resemble a wind sock once an ounce of lead has been hung on the end.......got no experience of them myself but gooduns are out there....

wait for somebody to pop along who has used one and give an insight , good luck on your travels !!

Re: Travel Beach Casters

Thanks - I'm planning a trip to Norway amoungst other places, so should post up somewhere for expressions of interest as I've got no fishing buddies to go with and the missus has zero interest in fishing, she just eats the fish!
