Re: Report on First Fishing Trip

Proud of you, especially since you seem to have gone straight to a multiplier. Well done for sticking to your guns, most newcomers to sea angling go for a fixed spool reel first and then wait and wait and wait and buy another fixed spool reel.

It is always nice to hear stories like this of someone new to this hobby/religion catching on their first trip.

Re: Report on First Fishing Trip

Paul, Thanks for the invite, I could really do with some advice/ guidance on baits. I went fishing again yesterday (3 more whiting and a pouting) and I was having real problems with the frozen lug worm (local tackle shop still had no fresh), the only way I could keep the worm in place was to bind it on with bait elastic.

Ben, the fish were all fairly small, I didn’t have a tape measure or scales, but the whiting were about 12 inches and the Bass was probably an inch or two longer.

Rob, I ended up on the beach here in Bexhill-on-Sea.

Simon, Did I catch the Bass close In? Well all my casts were for distance, but perhaps I should quantify what my assessment of a terrible and reasonable cast is.

Terrible Cast = I could throw the weight further
Reasonable Cast = Weight went about twice as far as I could throw it.

So even though I caught it on a reasonable cast, it was still close in.

Steve.
