whats around at mo???????

hi all ive fished deal beach (left of pier).... sandwich bay..... margate pier....
in the last 11 days and all im getting is very small flatties and the odd rockling.
im using rolled blacks /sand ells/yellows/squid. all fish are so small i dont see the rod move. .
now this is my first winter sea fishing so am wondering is that whats all about. or should i change my tactics?? . or has the cold snap affected things..
any info would be great as im hitting sandwich bay next sunday for an 8hr session.
cheers daz

Re: whats around at mo???????

this time of year round these coasts it gets a bit barren on the beaches,
i would recommend some of the deeper water venues, the piers at deal and dover or perhaps dungie

Awfull time of year mate, Bass are around all year but show in numbers about april time, skate will be showing soon aswell.
There are really no hard and fast rules when fish show, sometimes they come early other years there late, most years they don't show at all :-)

hi people!
fished st margarets bay near dover a few days ago
fished the first 2hrs before high tide an 1hr after, using rag with a mackerel tip on a 2 hook flapper, all i had was 1 pollack and 1 small flattie, lol and hooked a crab through the head.
i am quite new to kent (originally from cornwall where its f***ing hard NOT to catch) i tried sheerness by tescos last week and blanked
I am limited to where i can go as i always have my 2 kids in tow, so usually a beach where they can do their own thing!
i'm in north London so not usually fussed where i fish as the closest mark is 1 1/2hr drive.
any advice on a good (quiet) beach north or south of the thames eastury?

oh and HI! i'm a newbie here :)

be nice to meet up with members here as i have seen alot do and have a fish/pint..
