Re: PLEASE HELP so much stuff

hi graham.

the abu 6500 c3 ct you have is an awsome casting reel, not sure which version/ era the reel was from, does it have a silver or black side plates and are the side plates rounded or squared like the more modern mag reels, any way which ever reel it is the c3 range had 3 bearings 2 of which are in board on the spool which is what made them such awsome casting reels, the earlier versions were very popular with the casting fraternity as they would add single earth magnets to side plates and put in ceramic bearings to speed up spool free run. earlier ones had brass side plates although the newer versions have resorted back to this. the 6500 c3 was exactly the same only was fitted with a level wind, the other reel ct (cages tournament) was designed with casting in mind, no level wind system meant you can get a better grip on the spool when casting, you can buy a ct cage nowadays to replace old level wind frame to convert it to a ct design, conversion kits using pillar bars originally were ok but after a time the frame could twist out of shape through load on casting, the newer ct cages however put reel back to ct spec without these problems. nice reels and well worth keeping / using.

the procaster rod you have is a pkpb (paul kerry procaster beach) 12m ( 12 foot long and built for multiplier use).

i remember having one of these years ago, it was at the era of the amorphous whisker rods, paul kerry was very much in design mode on rods i believe this was a graphite carbon rod if my memery serves me right, all through action ( a tad bendy by todays casting rods standards ) has fantastic bite detection, would make an ideal match rod, casting weight i think was 4-6 oz and was designed to load up with the more powerful casts ie pundulum or ground cast, but can still be used for over head thumping.
they were intended for the reel up the butt use.

hope this is of use to you, no doubt if i have remembered any of the spec on the rod wrongly then other members of the forum may be able to point this out to you.
cheers, kev

Re: PLEASE HELP so much stuff

Very good and spot on kev. In casting club myself and all top casters use the abu reels. Bought a kompressor s and a fully converted abu 6500 mag today and she is ho-ho-hot. Cant wait to cast them both. Graham if you do want to sell them mate put the lot on ebay collect only, but worth keeping all the same bud.
