Re: slapton 12th december

SLAPTON MEET.

Directions:

Coming from Exeter direction along the A38 turn off at Dart Bridge and head toward Totnes (A384).
At mini roundabout turn left for Paignton (A385).
At traffic lights turn right for Dartmouth (A381).
At Halwell turn left for Dartmouth (A3122). Head toward Dartmouth passing Woodlands Leisure Park and Forces Tavern.
Turn right onto unclassified road (signposted Strete and Slapton)
At T-junction turn right A379 (signposted Slapton Sands, Torcross)
Drive the length of Slapton Sands up to Torcross. On the right you will see an old Tank next to a car park. Park here.

From Plymouth direction take the A379 all the way to Kingsbridge and then onto Torcross. On the right you will see an old Tank next to a car park. Park here.

TOA 13.00hrs.

Baits:

The main baits will be Ragworm, Squid, Mackerel, and Peeler. It would be worthwhile trying/bringing Razorfish, mussels, and prawns.

The Venue:

Slapton is a shingle beach which shelves to fairly deep water. The ground is mainly clean but I have had slight tackle losses. Rigs should be straight paternoster rigs made up from single, two and three hook snoods. Two and three hook rigs good for scratching whilst a single pennel rig fished at distance maybe the order of the day.

OK so what will we catch? Who can tell? The summer fish are still around whilst the winter stuff is showing. I myself will be trying for a codling or two after dark but I know we will be battling to get through the whiting. Dogfish will also be likely show an appearance. What I will be looking for will be the Pollock. We had a couple fishing here last winter and they put up a good fight and were large enough for the pot!
I can’t remember who told me but rays have also been caught there recently.

So there we have it folks. What will be will be and if the fish are feeding we will catch and if there not……well we will have a great time anyway.

Paul Lingham and steve devon have good experience in fishing this beach so if you guys have anything to add please feel free to do so.

Kiwi.
