9hrs hinkley 4hrs blue anchor and NOTHING!

how many knocks can one bloke take this my 19th outing and with the exception of an undersized pout in a match at blue anchor some time ago,i had hoped that i would finally be going home with some fish, i had all the bait id need,rigs wieghts, i got up at 5am picked up at 6 arrived hinkley power station at 7,had the walk from hell having climbed the style and read a slightly worrying notice advising not to use the footpath for buzzards were nesting and had recently shown aggression when disturbed,we hot footed it through aa poorly maintained track over a field,down the bank,over the slippery shelves of stone to be battered by rain and wind for 9hrs where yes suprise suprise i caught absolutely nadda,nil,zilch, on true form lost 7 gemini wieghts plus rigs,of course the guy i went with using identical gear, caught ,sure it was only 2 4lbcongers, but well done to him....git,then packed up hellish was the journey back as it was there, into the car not to be beaten off to blue anchor,high tide half hour away,,,,,surely surely, a doggie,any bloody thing...........nothing!knackered empty handed and feeling dis heartened with the whole thing ,my 20 outing looming next weekend,my first night fish a match at chesil.....will this outing see the end to my run of bad luck,or will there be one complete set of fishing gear up for sale!ill keep you posted

Unlucky DJ. Hope it improves at Chesil for you. Any fishy bait should snare you a doggie.
Don't be afriad to change the hooksize regulary, 3/0 penels with half a fillet of Mack, down to size 4's with a bit of worm. Keep ringing the changes & you should find something attached eventually. If your hooks are coming back clean - wind them in more often - you won't catch a lot once the crabs have stripped them.

A friend fished West Bay on Chesil t'other night, and had a bass of 5lb and one of 4lb on whole Squid!

Fishing goes like that sometimes mate. Through April I had 22+ hours fishing, over 8 sessions, with 6 blanks and two small schoolies to show for it. In Feb I spent 17+ hours over 5 sessions with only a (very) small pollock as a return. When you get on that sort of run, you need to start looking at what you're doing and why you're doing it. What fish are you targetting? How are you doing it? Is there anything you can do better or try a slightly different tactic? Are you putting your bait in the right place at the right time? Are you even using the right bait?

Sometimes you've just got to hold you hand up and take your medicine. You can't always catch fish. Even the best have barren spells, but it's about how you go about turning it round that's important. There'll always be something to learn about a mark or a species. Keep your eyes open. See what other are doing. Try different things. Above all, keep going. Sooner or later you'll land something that makes it all worth while! make sure to let us know when you do!

i have to admit im losing enthusiasm, im trying all the different baits with friends on recommended marks, doing exactly what they are doing and not catching,he only thing i havnt tried is nght fishing and im in my first official club match this sat nght at chesil watch this space there may be some gear for sale!there may be a magnificent story..........

Dont give up hope night fishing is at its best belive me chesil can throw up anything at night and day

sounds unlucky mate but keep persavering with it youll catch summat sooner or later ,or you could buy a boat with a really big net and go trawling youll defo catch something then lol.
