Re: new to shore fishing help needed

I have used my carp rod on shore before was a bit harder to get distance casting and didn’t feel good with to much weight but will still catch as the fish don’t no what rod you are using.

Re: new to shore fishing help needed

No reason why not. Like you say, it would be best in calm conditions, probably with an offshore wind to knock the wave height down a touch, just so you can see bites better. Having said that, I've got quite into holding my rod and touch ledgering lately with a 10-30gr 8' spinning rod and a 1oz running ledger. You don't need to cast more than 30/40 yards. I've had a few Bass on it and I've got to say I'm a convert to light fishing. They go like hell!!

One thing I would say though is make sure you wash all your gear down in fresh water the second you get home. You can probably imagine how quickly the salt water will rust your gear up.

Oh and one more thing.... Don't go bringing yer stupid smalls hooks to the sea... You freshwater boys need to use proper man's hooks!! None of this size 14 malarky.... Still haven't figured out how you tie them things on....

Re: new to shore fishing help needed

Peeler, squid, mackerel and worms should cover most options. There's some good bass fishing to be had near Swanage.
