Whiting on hokkais?

Just realised that you can catch whiting, pouting on hokkais and feathers. Around where i fish at pakefield, there's normally big whiting shoals, and you can bring 2 in at a time almost every cast.

Is it worth slinging out some feathers, and like you would with mackerel, reel them in and the whole routine would they take them like that?

they only take feathers on the boat realy dont do it much prom the shore

its a good method on a boat dan,never heard of anyone trying it on the beach,
could be that the average size of whiting from the beach is a lot smaller ,
might be worth a bash,who knows,stranger things have happened.

Whats it like at Pakefield?

Ive heard of it but never been that way, how far is it from Norwich?

Any info would be good, im looking to broaden my venues a bit

I would imagine that it's usually that with the time of year you get the best Whiting of the beach, the water's dirty and it probably reduces the effectiveness of any kind of lure fishing substantially.

Also, in a boat, you've got much more chance of keeping the feathers deep for longer - you can just jig them at whatever depth you want, you need a long cast from the shore IMO to keep them in the "killing" zone. It's gotta be worth a try, though, costs nothing to have a go after all.

Pakefield is a shingle beach, and slopes, gets quite deep, but there is the ODD snag around. Main species that you seem to catch there (or i catch there) are eels, flatties, whiting, pout and codling. From Norwich propbaly takes around 30-40 mins depending on traffic etc..

I'm sure Del Boy knows a lot more than me
