Re: Devon cliffs

Welcome to the Forum. I'm sure you will get a reply from Pingu or Baggie Rich soon as The Exmouth, Budleigh area is their patch. I'd imagine that a few sandeel or ragworm will see you OK with most of the local species. Expect Bass, Small eyed Ray, Dogfish & possibly Huss. Spinning or floatfishing will probably get you some mackerel and garfish. Good luck.....

Re: Devon cliffs

Soon (once I get info about the live sandeel chap on Exmouth docks) I will be planning a bass'ing trip down to Maer Rock, Sandy Bay, or the Budleigh side. I need to make up a couple of bottom fishing rigs as well.

Re: Devon cliffs

the main beach is all clean ground, the rocks are off to the right and soo obvious
the rocks on the left may well be in play if a low or neap tide
you will see loads of worm casts over the beach so guess what best bait is ( along with sandeel)
if the weed isnt bad definately try for a bass, or even try floundering on the clean ground
dogs will also come to play as well
budliegh and sidmouth both just along the road as well if want ( type ino search as done loads there)
some pics of sandy bay beach in this thread
Long,Long weekend , ESAA open weekend
good luck and let us know how you get on

Re: Devon cliffs

Word of warning lads - dont use live sandeel in the estuary in Exmouth ( Mere Rock ) - its illegal as its a bass nursery area and they are pretty hot on it !!!

Re: Devon cliffs

Do you mean Maer Rocks? That's quite a way outside the estuary mouth though - It's about 2 miles from the docks. I don't know the official boundaries of the estuary, but I think of Maer Rocks as basically being "sea" not estuary.
