blackwater estuary mersea

Hi folks good looking forum, looking forward to using it.

My in-laws stay in Maldon Essex and have just bought a caravan at waldergraves caravan park on Mersea Island.

I think the coast at that area is called Blackwater estuary i think and i would be thankful if any one can give me some details of the area?

I have beach, sea spin and flaty rods and the usual multiplier and fixed spool reels.

I would appreciate info on what fish are in the area any decent spots to go, any good tackle shops for good bait n tackle and any idea of traces to use.
