| Walton-on-the-naze pier Hi all, I am going to fish the above venue at the end of the month. Looks great on google earth! and heard good reports. Are there any locals on the forum willing to give some advice? High tide will be 15.00 on the Friday 1st where is the local tackle shop? baits to use, where to park, Maybe see you there! |

| Re: Walton-on-the-naze pier Not sure how up-to-date this is, but John Metcalfe's shop was in Pier Rd/Newgate St (I think) 200m from the pier. Richard Holgate is the gaffer now. | Re: Walton-on-the-naze pier I'll tell you about Walton pier ... calm weather Oct - Jan ... fish the end for Ytings and codlins'. (Move left corner to right to fish into the tide) Blowing hard and surf on the beach ... go half-way along and build yourself a wind-break ... and clean out. Summer time ... bass on rubber eels near the Lifeboat mooring. Or fish the entrance/gate for soles with rag (night). I caught 5 gars at night once in January with frost on the wooden planks (under lights, mind you. Wouldn't have believed it possible!). ![]() |
