| Re: Fishing In Scotland:Help! hi hyper rod, a spinning reel will be ok, use a running ledger rig with a long flowing trace, ask the tackle shop what that is and they will show you how to use it, use ragworm or mackeral, or if ur a patient person, squid |

| Re: Fishing In Scotland:Help! Hi Rob, Pow Foot is in an area that most people "drive past" to get to Scotland. It is one of the most beautiful areas in Scotland that most visitors miss. When I was serving my apprenticeship I worked in a nearby Power Station for quite a while and got to know the area really well, but that was in the late 50's, things do change. If you intend buying a rod and reel I would suggest an Uptide Rod for boat fishing. These rods are one of the most universal rods on the market. The average sea fisherman would or could use it as a beachcaster, a pier rod, an uptide or downtide rod or a spinning rod. Generally speaking it can be used for everything to do with sea fishing. It can be used with any type of reel, Fixed Spool or Multiplier. No doubt I will be shot down in flames, but if I had to buy just one sea fishing rod for all sea fishing work, it would be an Uptider. As I have said any reasonable reel will be O.K. but if you were to purchase one a multiplier around the 6 or 7000 type or similar would be best. As far as traces go, might I suggest that you buy some from a local tackle shop in the area and then copy them. I hope this helps regards Drew __________________ All that Glitters is not Gold Secretary of The Blandford Sea Angling Club |
