Bristol channel tide predictions

Hi all, just bought a 2009 Arrowmiths Bristol channel tide timetable and have noticed the high and low water heights have changed from last year. Based at Newport ,last year high water was 14.9m and low water was 9.5m. This year high water is 12.9m and low is 7.5m. Any ideas why?

Re: Bristol channel tide predictions

Can't answer your question mate, but I drove over the Severn bridge last week in my truck & i'd never seen such a low tide. I recon you could have walked from Bristol to Newport. I lived at Beachley for two years & never saw it that low...

Re: Bristol channel tide predictions

I have just found out the tide heights are now taken from Chart Datum on the South Lock which is 1.7 metres below. All I have to do is add 1.7 metres to height of tide. Easy !!!!!
