| Re: reel line loading sit the rel on the but section of rod then feed the line through the ring on the rod then tie as neat as knot possible onto the spindle, trim down I find putting the spool of line into a bucket of water saves line twist also it dosent bobble about everywhere on the floor then just wind on slowly, useing thumb and finger tokeep it balanced accross the reel( I:e not too much one side then do other)also keeping some tension on the line hope this makes it simple ![]() dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives |

| Re: reel line loading ... as Pingu says but I used to run the line through a yellow pages etc which gives it good tension so you can concentrate on getting the line to lay cotton reel perfect .... More recently I have been using the Berkeley Spooling Station - superb piece of kit ... no need for buckets & yellow pages ! __________________ SUPPORT THE RNLI - click : www.rnli.org.uk ... every little helps ! | Re: reel line loading Another vote for the spooling station. A useful bit of gear. One thing I would definately say *NOT* to do, is hold the spool of mono under tension on a dowel between your feet on as you sit on the sofa and wind it onto the reel. You might find that the friction of the spool burns a perfect couple of holes in the living room carpet, which the FPO will not take kindly to at all. Not that anybody would be that stupid...... ![]() __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check. Bait…… BAIT! Sh*t, where’s the bait? |
