Southampton area advice needed for a newbie

Hello all. I am new to the forum and the area. I would like to do some dock, pier, quay, etc. fishing in the Southampton area but have no idea where to go and what is open to the public (I don't mind paying to fish if required).

Also, suggestions as to baits, tackle and best state of the tide to fish would be greatly appreciated!
